Jalebi is a spiral shaped sweet dish which is prepared in four steps
1. Preparing the sugar syrup
2. Preparing the batter
3. Frying the jalebi
4. dipping the fried jalebi into sugar syrup.
INGREDIENTS
1. Sugar 2 cups
2. Saffron/ food colour 1 pinch
3. All purpose flour 1 cup
4. Curd 3 tbsp
5. Baking Powder 1/2 tsp
6 OIl for frying
7. Lemon Juice 1/2 tsp
STEPS
1. Boil 2 Cups sugar and 1 cup water along with 1 pinch saffron/ food colour for 2 minutes to prepare the sugar syrup. Add 1/2 tsp lemon juice and mix it well to avoid crystallisation
2. Prepare a batter of pouring consistency by slowly adding water to the mixture of baking powder, curd and all purpose flour.
3. Medium heat oil in a flat bottomed pan( take oil upto 1 inch in the pan)
4. Pour the batter using a cone/sauce bottle or piping bag into the shape of a spiral.
5. Fry the prepared jalebies till crisp from both sides
6 Put the fried jalebies directly into sugar syrup and press the jalebies towards the bottom in the sugar syrup so the the syrup get well absorbed.
7 Serve the jalebi over a plate and garnish with some dry fruits
