Dum Monj is an authentic Kashmiri Recipe prepared from Kohlrabi stem. Kohlrabi has a very thick and fleshy stem which is cut into slices and cooked with spices to retain a very flavourful taste and very soft texture

INGREDIENTS:
1. Kohlrabi / Monj cut into slices                           1/2 kg
2.Oil                                                                        100 ml/ 1 cup
3. Salt                                                                      as per taste
4. cumin seeds                                                        1/2 tsp  
5. cloves                                                                  2 no                                          
6 Bay leaf                                                                2 no
6 red chilly powder                                                 1-2 tbsp
7. Thick cardamom                                                 2 no
8. fennel seeds powder                                           1 tbsp
9. asfoetida water                                                    1 tsp

STEPS:
1. Heat oil in a pan
2. Add kohlrabi slices one by one and fry till light brown
3. Take kohlrabi out in a bowl.
4. Add cumin seeds,cloves,bay leaf and thick cardamon to the same pan and roast for 1 min
5 Add fried kohlrabi ,salt,redchilly powder, fennel seeds powder and asfoetida water to it.
7. Cook for 2 min on low flame and then add 1 glass water
8. Cover with a lid and let it cook for 5 min

After 5 min Dum Monj is ready to serve
